At East Brunswick Family and Implant Dentistry, we use a number of the newest technologies to help you achieve oral health. Better technology translates to better care in our East Brunswick dental office!

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras help us get a better picture of your dental health. Using this tool, we can take pictures of the inside of your mouth, giving us a clear view of areas that we might otherwise miss. We can also show you what we’re seeing, helping you to understand what is going on in your mouth for better treatment planning.

The intraoral camera looks like a wand, and its slender shape allows us to reach all areas of your oral cavity. The pictures and video of what we’re seeing are displayed on a computer monitor for your viewing. With the intraoral camera, we can see your oral structures magnified up to 25 times. If you want to see what’s happening in your mouth, the intraoral camera is the tool that makes that possible.

Digital X-rays

One of the main concerns people have when it comes to X-rays is the amount of radiation to which they’re exposed. Digital X-rays provide a solution to this problem. Digital X-rays expose you to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays, making them a healthier choice when compared to traditional X-rays.

With traditional X-rays, the images are printed out on film. This process takes time as the X-rays develop. With digital X-rays, the images are transmitted to a computer screen, instantly allowing us to see the images of your mouth. We can then compare these images quickly to older digital X-ray images of your mouth to see progression of problems or the results of treatment. Digital X-rays make for smoother appointments and better diagnosis.

ViziLite Oral Cancer Screening

According to the ADA, over 30,000 people will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year. This is a very serious health problem affecting a wide range of people, not just smokers. That’s why early detection is so key. The earlier we detect your oral cancer, the more optimistic the outlook for treatment.

ViziLite oral cancer screening helps us detect the signs of oral cancer that are not visible to the naked eye. Using a special light, we can detect precancerous and cancerous cells in the mouth. If the cells are cancerous, they become blue under the ViziLite lightsource.

Harvest Technology for Bone Grafting

Bone grafting involves replacing missing bone, and sometimes bone grafting is needed in the jaw and oral cavity. We may need to perform a bone grafting procedure in conjunction with your dental implant procedures. Bone is taken from elsewhere in your body and grafted into the affected area. Harvest technologies for bone grafting are designed to lower the risks associated with bone grafting. Bone grafting can be complicated by lack of healthy harvest sites in the body, age, and risk of complications. Using alternatives that mimic healthy harvested bone decreases these risks.
